TEVET Announced as Veteran Owned Small Business of the Year by U.S. Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration has announced that TEVET will receive the Veteran Owned Small Business of the Year award for the state of Tennessee. The recognition comes as part of the SBA’s annual National Small Business Week, which will take place May 4–10, 2025.

At TEVET, this honor reflects more than a business milestone—it affirms a lifelong commitment of service to Country, Customer, and Community.

From the Flight Deck to the Defense Industry: A Mission-Driven Journey

Tracy Solomon, TEVET’s founder and CEO, grew up on a tobacco farm in East Tennessee, going on to serve in the U.S. Navy, supporting F-14 Tomcat squadrons. His military experience—working with complex electronics in high-stakes environments—became the foundation for a career grounded in technical excellence and mission-first thinking.

That mindset led to the launch of TEVET. With a second mortgage and the support of SBA financing and SCORE mentorship, Solomon built the company with one goal: to serve the warfighter with precision and purpose. From the start, TEVET has focused on delivering solutions that support the warfighter, empower program managers, and streamline procurement across the Aerospace and Defense industry.

Built to Serve, Commitment to Community

TEVET’s mission doesn’t stop at its service to its customers and partners. The company actively supports organizations that strengthen the fabric of its community—including Holston Home for Children, Disabled American Veterans, Capitol Theatre of Greeneville, local JROTC programs, and other veteran-focused initiatives across the region.

“Service is in our DNA,” Solomon often says. “Whether supporting the warfighter or giving back to our hometown, our goal is the same: serve with integrity and impact.”

Being named the Veteran Owned Small Business of the Year is more than a recognition of entrepreneurial success—it reflects TEVET’s core values and sustained performance in support of those who defend our nation’s freedom and security.

As the company looks to the future, one thing remains clear: service to country, customer, and community isn’t just a tagline—it’s how TEVET leads every day.
